4130 Chromemoly Airframe Construction, TM Technologies Video

Three EAA Technical Counselors (over 60 total years' experience) show you the procedures necessary to construct a complete airframe from plans. Table jig construction, measuring, cutting, fitting, bending, tacking, and gas welding are shown in detail, along with the countless do's and don'ts which are only discovered by not only building many aircraft for oneself, but also helping others to do the same. Small, medium, and large parts are shown and demonstrated in detail. See the reconstruction efforts on a wrecked Stinson Gullwing, and the methods used to insure its value. What are the 11 most-asked questions at Oshkosh Welding Workshops? Controversy of TIG vs. MIG vs. torch. Do gas welds really hold up in a hard crash? Preheating and postheating. Filler rod? Distortion? You will learn the traditional standards, the history, and what is appropriate for building and repairing aircraft 4130. This is a very detailed "workshop" program. In this video the welding sequences are filmed close-up and through the TM2000 Special Welding Lens for very clear instruction of the welding method. 4.25 hr, Two Tape VHS Set.

Advanced Techniques for the English Wheel, TM Technologies Video

This TM Technologies metalworking video covers many techniques, methods and solutions that are essential for high-quality work with the English Wheel. Learn how to keep the panel from flopping, keep from slipping off the edge of the panel, how to make accurate and repeatable pressure adjustments, take care of little low spots, cure waviness, and much more. We make an 8' X 34" polished panel for a Spartan Executive fuselage, using .032" 2024 T3 (heat treated Alclad aluminum). Many years of experience from master metalworking craftsman Ken White and Steve Paralieu, builder of over 70 Winston Cup car bodies.

An American's View of the English Wheel, TM Technologies Video

Although simple, the wheel can be deceptively so, and this tape solves many of the mysteries of tracking patterns, layering, shrinking, and smoothing out the rough spots. Analyzes frame stiffness with a load cell, shows proper roll runout and choosing correct contours, demonstrates forming and curving flanges, and deburring. Some vintage metalworking history is depicted to give the viewer a greater understanding of traditions and methods in Italy, England, and the US. A special section at the end shows a simple airhammer working together with a Pullmax machine and a wheel to rapidly raise, shrink, and planish a high-crowned panel for a wheelpant. Basic Damage Repair on the Aluminum Body, TM Technologies Video

The Tin Man, Ken White, demonstrates how to repair aluminum panel and body damage in this informative how to video. A vintage Porsche RSK nose is axed clear through, straightened, gas welded (butt-weld), planished and metal finished to perfection, on camera, with no edits, a few simple hand tools, - and no fillers. Very good demonstration of fitting up for butt-welding. Although not specifically for Aircraft, the information has direct application for aviation" Ben Owen-EAA rated 4star/aircraft

Edge Those Panels, TM Technologies Video

With a hammer and dolly, or the edge of a workbench, many types of bends, flanges, and hems are shown, and common mistakes identified. This video covers the mysterious wired edge in detail, and with simple hand tools. The wing rib demonstration shows 2024 being slapped over the form block with a lead slapper, an aviation classic. Techniques for radius bends and stiffeners for tank construction are demonstrated, finishing up with the rotary (beading) machine making beads, panel edges, and some fancy artwork. Presented by the Tin Man, Ken White of TM Technologies. EAA (Experimental Aircraft Association) rated 4star/aircraft VHS, 126 minutes.

Fluid Forming Compound Shapes in Aluminum Parts, TM Technologies Video

Use water pressure and a cavity to form sheetmetal parts that are smooth and free of marks. City water pressure may provide enough force to form your shape or an inexpensive high-pressure pump can be used. See detailed coverage of the pressures required for various sized parts, the inexpensive pumps available, and some engineering designs for the cavities. This video demonstrates aluminum, although other types of sheetmetal can certainly be formed into some interesting shapes. Video by Kent White from TM Technologies. VHS

Gas Welding Aluminum, TM Technologies Video

Oxy-acetylene torch welding of aluminum panels is covered in depth in this metalworking video, starting with bottle safety, regulator pressure settings, and torch adjustment for different material thicknesses from .040" to .063". Flux types and applications are then discussed, followed by tacking methods, and distortion and crack control. Horizontals ("in-position") as well as vertical ("out of position") welding methods are demonstrated. Special attention is given to proper eyewear, flux cleanup, planishing, and filing. Filmed through the TM2000 special lens. Presented by the tin man, Kent White of TM Technologies. EAA and Skinned Knuckles Magazine rated 4star/aircraft.
